Wow.. finding out who boarded what on Season one was a lot easier then I thought. Just had to talk to Sibsy!

SEASON ONE

Alright so here's the list for season 1. I'm not sure how they directorial duties were distributed since Lauren was still in the mix, so here's *just* the board artists. Of note here is that the boarding duties were more split-down-the-middle than in season 2, where the Senior/Junior system took over:

Ep #26: "The Grand Galloping Gala"

Kenny Park & Lih Liau (song by Jocelyn Theissen)

REVISION ARTISTS:

Dave Wiebe & Marshall Fels Elliott

SEASON TWO

As I've stated before, season 2 was done with 1 lead storyboard artist and 1 junior artist paired together... ALONG WITH a shiny new Storyboard Supervisor, 'Big' Jim Miller! :D The idea behind all of this being to give the episodes more cohesion (I think.. Don't quote me!)

Ep #27: "The Return To Harmony" parts 1 &2

Sabrina Alberghetti
Kenny Park
Mike West

Ep #29: "Lesson Zero"

I've heard that in "Dragon Quest" Spike is going to have some conflict with older dragons. Can you please tell me who's going to voice the dragons? Is it Scott McNeil, Steve Blum, Kevin Micheal Richardson, David Kaye, Chris Sabat, Ian James Corlett? Who please tell me who?

Also, is Tirek going to be in the series? If you don't know who he is watch the pilot episode of MLP G1 [link]

I have just made a journal for this. :D

Not me this time. Actually its Sabrina and Nicole for this one. They were supposed to be the ones taking on Lesson Zero originally, but I got swapped in just as production was beginning. What a hell of a time-crunch that was. XD It was also back when we still had a 5-week schedule and I was making a 3 hour commute every day. UGH.

Not to bore you with details. I'm just reflecting upon how much easier things are right now. LoL

^_^ I just saw. That's awesome too! I have a feeling it'll be a great episode.

And aww. But how apt with an episode all about running out of time. I wonder if some of that transferred cathartically into the episode. Loved that episode but I'm really happy to hear things are less stressful :).

Hi, this is a bit of a random question, and I don't know if you know the answer, but it's really important!

The dragon, Garble, who did his voice? It sounded very, very suspiciously like Sam Regal, but I'm not 100% sure and I can't find any voice sources on Wikipedia OR the MLP wiki. Would you or someone else happen to know?

Vincent Tong, the voice of Blueblood and Flash Sentry, voiced Garble...

I do not understand about the baby phoneixes, In the beginning there are 5 baby phoenixes that have the red body and colored feathers whereas peewee, spike's new pet is just plain orange and have tiny orange-like feathers, does it means that the 5 baby phoenixes have already been hatched for a while whereas peewee is a phoenix who is just barely born???

I would guess that they slowly change color over time.. the way black horses are white initially and the color develops over time. IF I HAD TO VENTURE A GUESS!

Were you inspired from the first MLP cartoon episode "Spike's Search"? They have simular stories.

I'm glad you're getting something from it. :) I feel like the boarding process is kind of invisible to a lot of people. Myself included at first. When I was young, I had no idea what it entailed. I thought it was a lot simpler, a lot more boring and even unnecessary. Surprise surprise that its become my passion.

I took a storyboarding test for Cartoon Network. Oh yeah, alot more involved.

On some shows board artists also has to be writers since some cartoons don't use scripts at all (SpongeBob, Regular Show, and Adventure Time are done this way).

^_^ Definitely! I imagine that multiple episodes are being boarded simultaneously but I deeply hope there can be more of those little continuity touches which show up occasionally, especially in "A Friend in Deed". Continuity always makes me so giddy, even if it's just a subtle visual like with Rainbow Dash hanging out in the library. Not sure how much of that is stated in the script or stuff open to story-boarding but always happy to see it.

I can't really imagine what story-boarding on a show is like but I'm so happy to hear it's enjoyable for you ^^. My only experience with it is what shows up in something like the Pixar documentary where someone presents simple sketches on a wall and acts it out. I imagine it's a lot more hectic on a TV schedule.

I'm more a writer but I adore working with friends who are artists to share ideas, especially since so many of my ideas tend to be visual.

But I just wanted to say after another huge thanks to the whole team at the studio, top to bottom, I see you story-boarded for "Lesson Zero" ^^. That is literally the one episode which got me into the show. Also, if you are responsible for Twilight Sparkle's various expressions and nightmare-like "visions" in that episode ^^, I just want to say I loved them!

That episode left me awe-struck and inspired to really give the show a look ^^. Fantastic stuff. Same love for Secret of my Excess, unsettling Spike, and Twilight's little expressions of worry. I love what's told in little expressions on characters. ^_^ Also really loved "Read It and Weep". Seems like that one would've been a blast but complicated to storyboard.

PS - I know you can't say much to anything show-related (Non-disclosure and all) but secretly hoping you're the one who story-boarded the upcoming "It's About Time" episode, especially considering the stated premise online. :)

Thank you again ^^. *big cheers*

Were Dave Wiebe & Marshall Fels Elliot the only storyboard revisionists for season 1? Likewise, Nabi-Ah Youssef, Hanna Lee, and Corey McDaniels for season 2? Because there are other names under "storyboard revisionists" in the IMDb credits (which I think were copied from the on-screen credits).

[link] (Full combined credits for the whole show, all episodes)
[link] (the first episode, which I was about to update, but then realized I should confirm more things before I delete people's credits when they may actually have worked on an episode.)

The IMDb credits, as I've said, are user-submitted and are usually based upon/copied from the on-screen credits after every episode. As you know, the end credits on the show are fixed for a season, with no customized credits for each episode. (This also means that many voice actors go uncredited, and other actors get credit when they weren't in an episode.)

Hmmm From the link you've shown me it looks as though its not just Storyboard artists who are credited in there. There are also 'concept' artists that probably didn't do any boards but probably designed a lot of major features from the show: from characters to props to locations. I know some people go back and forth from job to job. Hanna Lee has not only done revisions/clean-up. She's also done props.

Maybe leave their names just in case. Don't want to take any credit FROM anyone. LoL XD

Oooh, "concept" in air quotes. I'm wondering then, how is the concepting process handled on MLP? Is it all done in-house?

Lovely work by the way. Very dynamic lines and expression, everything you'd expect from an awesome boarder. :D

If I'm not mistaken, background, props and character design are all done in-house so I'd assume that's true of the earliest art. The lay-out is also done in-house. I think the animation and color is done in the Philipenes..

And thanks! I try to put as much energy as possible into my drawings on the boards. :)

Okay so, in my updates to IMDb, I should only remove credits of "storyboard artist"s who didn't work on a given episode. Which "storyboard revisionist"s stay up? What I was getting at is, were the storyboard revisionists the same for every episode in a season? (If I'm not making sense, I'll try rephrasing my thoughts or offering links.)
